Plenty of parking a short walk from the concert hall. The seating is quite comfortable and I would say, in my opinion, you seem to have a little more space to the left and right of you and also in front compared to most theatres.
We went to see Shepherd's Brass Band, whom we have historically seen at Rowntrees Theatre. The acoustics, as you can imagine, are amazing, we were nearer to the band which enhanced the experience and all of these things together made the evening memorable.
The other bonus was they have a bar there and you are permitted to take drinks into the auditorium as they use paper cups for that purpose; if you don't want to take your drink in, you are served your drink in a glass.
I would not hesitate to recommend this venue for any performance. It is comfortable, warm, you are close to the performers, which for me, made me feel more part of it. They have a very varied programme of events and I urge you to give it a whirl.

Given a 3 as so difficult to find in the dark. No signs and no staff at carparks to guide you. I was just going home, when I found it. Took 45minutes walking around asking several students, who had no idea.

I'm studying Music Production at the University of York and have used the Jack Lyons hall for recording performances as the acoustics within the space are ideal for an acoustic sort of ensemble. So if there are any musicians reading this and would like to get in touch for a session, let me know!

A small , intimate but well equiped concert hall within the music department of York university. Comfortable seating and an intimate sound also. Rarely do you get the chance to sit so close to an orchestra....you could almost hear them breathing! Defo would visit again. Very nice.

I have sung here and I have been in the audience. It has good acoustics and the seats are not too cramped. On the whole, it is a good classical venue, but slightly let down by the fact it is out of town and therefore a bit hard to find.
